As you may have gathered from
the most recent general meeting, I am the proud leader of the Theatre
Group. This is very pleasant, since the
Group consists of one person – me – so there is precious little to argue about.
The downside to this is that nothing ever
gets done because I have a more than full-time job. Since our late, much-loved Ron Richards was
promoted to the great stage in the sky, we have had no driving force, no
producer, no set designer, no director, no stage manager, no actors – good or
bad – no gofers and definitely no plot.
All we do have, is money in
the bank for our next production.
Surely there must be a few brave souls out there who could help to revive one of the most respected and (formerly) successful activities of the Club and which gave huge pleasure to participants and audiences alike? I am, of course, prepared to put myself out as before and if necessary again make a fool of myself on stage, but we need a guiding force. We need someone to research the plays, who will nag us, prompt, and generally tell us what to do. I think it is high time that we bestirred ourselves.
Think about it. The first able volunteer will probably be
elected without so much as a word being said.
