4×4 EXPLORERS group
The Club is pleased to announce the formation of the “4×4 EXPLORERS” group. The objective of the group will be to explore, in a relaxed way, using little known roads and public vehicle tracks in the surrounding areas to reach interesting places and restaurants/picnic spots that one would not normally get to with a town car, or where one would not want to venture alone. If you don’t have a suitable 4×4, we will endeavour to find you a ride as a passenger.
International Club 4×4 Explorers group report
The first trip on Oct 14th was a great success, with 6 cars and 14 people. We took the old smugglers route from Col de la Botella down to the quaint old village of Tor for a fabulous 15 Euro lunch, cooked on the open fire beside us. A very sociable and relaxed day out with stunning views and beautiful Autumn colours, and roads that did not shake up the passengers too much! To see where we went, fly to Google Earth “Tor 25574 Alins Spain”.)

The next 4×4 trip has now been scheduled for SUNDAY NOVEMBER 20th.
We shall meet in St Julia, then cross into Spain and take some back roads to the quaint old village of CASTELLBO (approx due west of La Seu d’Urgel, try Google Earth “fly to” Castellbo Spain 25712) for a 15 euro lunch at the bar-restaurant Casa Lluis. As we may have snow in November a lower altitude route has been chosen, so the restaurant can still be reached on all tarmac roads if necessary. To make this a sociable and interesting trip for as many as possible, the route should be suitable for most 4×4′s that have a reasonable ground clearance ie:(Rav4 and similar).
To register your interest as a passenger or a driver, please email ASAP Jimwatt.jw@hotmail.com
Its success depends on volunteers with suitable 4×4 vehicles (with a reasonable ground clearance and a low ratio gear box) willing to take others as passengers who would contribute towards the costs. These are not meant to be guided tours, as we will sometimes want to explore tracks where none of us has been before. Everybody participates at their own risk.
It will be co-ordinated by Jim Watt (jimwatt.jw@hotmail.com or 672249)
