The Art Group started in 1989. After the death of our leader, Nina O’Brien, a few years ago, we had to give up the studio in Andorra la Vella. This was because our numbers shrank as a few from the group, seeking guidance, joined the Ordino Art school. The few remaining members couldn’t afford the rent, and also parking down there was becoming increasingly difficult.
Valerei Rymarenko then kindly offered us the use of 2 rooms, plus a shower room, in her house in Pal.
We use one room as the studio and one as a store room. We can go up whenever we want,
and also are able leave all our materials there which is fantastic.
There are only 4 of us in the group, and much of the time, some are away!!.
We pay 1 euro a visit (Valerie does not charge rent) and this goes towards the payment for gas tanks, turps and even gifts for Valerie. We have no leader but try to encourage and help each other as we go along.
Both the Ordino splinter and the Pal splinter still participate in the Govern Mostra
and some of us in the annual Ordino painting competition.
