Valentine’s Lunch 2008
Held at the HOTEL BABOT on the
Spectacular
views – Traditionally Andorran Restaurant
This
year the International Club was blessed with favourable weather for the venue
at
Hotel Babot on the
As
organiser, I picked
up the baton, (or as someone said … the
poisoned chalice).
Thanks
to sterling efforts of previous organisers which has made this a popular event
in the Club calendar,
we had a tremendous turnout, some 62
people, which would seem to indicate that romance is not yet dead.
The
event commenced at 12.30 with cava and other aperitifs, accompanied by generous
quantities of nibbles
in the bar and on the sun-soaked
terrace, with splendid views of the Ordino valley.
It
was difficult to drag the members in to lunch after copious amounts of aperos,
the meal proper commenced around
1.30, with three courses and wines,
Before
the coffee, liqueur chocolates and brandies were served, various raffle prizes were distributed.
As
the organiser, I
would like to thank Christine Hansen, for suggesting this superb spot as a
venue
some six to nine months ago, giving us
ample time to reconnoitre.
At
the 11th hour Tony Dawtrey pulled off the
near-impossible by organising a special delivery of beautiful red roses
from
My
thanks go to John Coville for his untiring enthusiasm
emailing the members and generally supplying information,
also to Sue Gresham who did a terrific
job with her camera supplying us with the photographic evidence.
My
wife Jane dealt with backroom stuff, without which this event would not have
been so successful …
I
have to say this as she’s doing the typing !
I
must also congratulate Susanna and Pere and their
team at Hotel Babot,
for the delicious food, their efficient table waiting,
for understanding our needs and joy
of joys - hot plates
!
Kind
regards, George
