We are saddened to learn of the death of one of our longest standing members – Maurice Pilkington, who passed away 25th of July 2022, aged 96 years after a five month fight with cancer.Maurice and his wife Betty arrived in Andorra many years ago, after he retired from a long career with the peacekeeping forces of the United Nations, a career which took the family to many security hotspots including Korea, Afghanistan and Palestine.
Maurice was a man of many interests. He was an enthusiastic and competitive yachtsman, a passionate birdwatcher, and an accomplished bridge player, to name just a few.
He was loved for his quiet manner and politeness – interspersed with barbs of wit.
On May 1, 2022 Maurice and Betty were able to celebrate their 70th Wedding Anniversary.
Maurice is survived by his loving wife Betty, their two sons, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A private family Service of Remembrance is planned.
